Town of Mono voters will once again cast their ballots online and by telephone for the 2026 Municipal Election!
Getting on the Voters List:
Did you know you can get on the voters list for both municipal and provincial elections in one place?
Visit the Register to Vote website and you can do it all: check that you are registered to vote or add/update any information.
You can check, update, or add yourself to the voters list through the Register to Vote website until August 12. After this date, you can file an application to update the voters list through the Town of Mono.
Offices to Be Elected:
- Mayor,
- Deputy Mayor,
- Councillor (3 seats).
- Upper Grand District School Board Trustee,
- Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board Trustee,
- Conseil Scolaire Viamonde Trustee,
- Conseil Scolaire Catholique MonAvenir (formerly Conseil Scolaire de District Catholique Centre-sud).
Voting Period:
The Town of Mono's voting period starts at 10 A.M. on Friday, October 16, 2026 and ends at 8 P.M. on Monday, October 26, 2026 (Voting Day).
Computers with an internet connection will be available at Town Hall and electors can receive assistance with the voting process during the following dates & times:
- Friday, October 16 from 10 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Monday, October 19 to Friday, October 23 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
- Monday, October 26 from 8:30 AM to 8 PM.

The candidate nomination period ends at 2:00 P.M. on August 21, 2026.
To run for a position on council, candidates must be eligible to vote in the municipality. The Town of Mono's councillors are "at large" (there is no ward system).
If you are running for municipal council, you must submit submit 25 original signatures endorsing your nomination (Form 2) along with your nomination form (Form 1). Anyone providing an endorsement signature must be eligible to vote in the municipality on the day the endorsement was signed. A candidate package is available for pickup at Town Hall (347209 Mono Centre Road) that includes these forms, additional required forms, candidate guides, and more.
Candidate information sessions were held at the end of April and beginning of May. You can still review the presentation from the sessions. The presentation is full of useful information and can help you decide if running for municipal office is right for you.
