The  Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act provides the public the right to access information held by institutions with exemptions to help protect privacy (e.g., personal privacy).

Anyone of any age can request information, including people outside of the Municipality.

Information that can be requested includes information in the following formats:

Making a Request

Prior to making an official request by filling out the form, please call the Town of Mono Municipal Office at 519-941-3599. If the information is readily available and can be provided, it will likely be provided without requiring a formal request.

You will receive a notification that your request has been received. The Freedom of Information (FOI) request will be processed within 30 days. In the event that a request cannot be processed within 30 days, you will be notified about the time extension.

Fees

A $5.00 application fee is required for all requests.

Depending on the request, there may be additional processing fees. The fees will be based on the format that the information was requested in and the costs incurred by the Town to produce or copy the information.

Appeals

You have the right to appeal any decision made on an FOI request. The appeal is filed with the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario.

To file an appeal, you must complete an Appeal form or send a written letter within 30 days after receiving the decision. A copy of the decision must be included. The original request should also be included (if it is available). The appropriate fee should also be included with your documents.

You must attach a scanned copy of your receipt from the Town of Orangeville clearly showing the non-resident fee.

Rural residents are asked to additionally provide their physical address as shown on your property tax bill or property deed.

Fire permits are valid until 31 December of the current year. It is the permit holder's responsibility to call the municipal office at 519. 941.3599 or check the website during dry periods or any time during the months of April and May to ensure that a fire ban is not in effect.
