When a road is closed for construction, it isn't closed because we're trying to inconvenience you. It's closed because the road is not safe for public traffic and our municipal road crews are working in that space.
When drivers enter a closed construction zone, they can encounter:
- Uneven or unfinished surfaces
- Open excavations
- Heavy equipment and machinery
- Construction materials and debris
- Temporary traffic patterns
- Workers who aren't expecting public vehicles to enter the site
That puts you, your passengers and road workers at risk.
It can also damage work that has already been completed, creating additional costs and delays.
🚧 See the ROAD CLOSED sign? Stop. Turn around. Take the detour.
Our road crews are working to get the road safely reopened. Please give them the space they need to do their jobs.
Local Traffic Only
See a road closure sign that says LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY?
It does not mean:
❌ “I live in this town.”
❌ “I live in this village.”
❌ “I live in this city.”
❌ “I’m only going a few minutes down the road.”
It means access is generally limited to people who need to reach a property within the closed section — for example, residents who live there or people visiting someone who lives there. If your destination is outside the closed section, the closure applies to you.
🚧 If you're not local to the closed section, use the detour.
Construction zones are active work areas. Road conditions may be unfinished or unsafe, and municipal workers may be operating heavy equipment with limited room to maneuver.
A few extra minutes on the detour is worth it.
Protect the crew. Protect yourself. Respect the closure.
