Winter Activities

While the heaps of snow during the winter keep some cozy indoors for the season, the snowfall and cool temperatures provide a number of great activities to help stay active and have fun.

Skating

There are 3 skating rinks that are maintained by volunteers and are lit at night:

Ice skate in a blue circle

Skiing and Snowshoeing

Woman cross-country skiing

The Niagara Escarpment's natural elevation creates great alpine skiing and snowboarding conditions at Hockley Valley Resort.

Trails are not maintained during the winter months, so there are always great places to go snowshoeing. Some favourites include Monora Park, Mono Cliffs Provincial Park, and Island Lake Conservation Area.

Tobogganing

A great hill for tobogganing is available at Mono Community Centre Park behind the gazebo. Be safe and wear appropriate protective gear (helmets are strongly recommended).
