Council for the Town of Mono held a Special Council Meeting on October 19, 2021 to fill the vacancy on Council created by the resignation of Laura Ryan at the beginning of September. All ten candidates who submitted their applications were in attendance and provided Council with a presentation outlining the reasons why they should be chosen to fill the vacant seat.
After the presentations, Council voted for their preferred candidate. With no candidate receiving a majority, Council entered a Closed Meeting to review and discuss the candidates. Upon rising from the Closed Meeting, Council held a second vote in which Melinda Davie was selected as the winning candidate.
Melinda will assume her duties as Councillor for the Town of Mono upon being sworn in and completing the Declaration of Office at the next Council Meeting, scheduled for October 26, 2021 at 9:00 A.M.
