From the notice posted on the TRCA's website, dated March 28, 2025 at 11:55 AM:
Weather Conditions:
Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA) advises that watersheds will receive around 15 – 45 mm of freezing rain and rain intermittently, beginning late this evening and through to Monday morning (March 31). The system will bring periods of showers with a mix of freezing rain and rain, with the highest intensity of 2-5mm /hr.
Issues:
Widespread flooding is not anticipated, however, forecasted rainfall amounts mixed with melting ice and snow and partially frozen ground conditions, will result in higher-than-normal water levels and flows, creating potentially hazardous conditions. The combination of slippery and unstable banks, and cold-water temperatures will create dangerous conditions close to any river, stream, or other water body. All rivers and streams within the GTA should be considered hazardous.
Actions:
Please exercise caution around all bodies of water. Please alert any children under your care of these dangers and supervise their activities. Please keep children and pets away from the slippery and unstable banks.
This Water Safety Watershed Conditions Statement will be in effect through to end of day on Monday, March 31, 2025.
