The Town of Mono accepted a challenge from the Township of Melancthon to host a food drive! The Food Bank Challenge spanned October 1 to November 29, 2024. The Township of Melancthon also challenged:
- Township of Amaranth,
- Township of East Garafraxa,
- Township of Mulmur,
- Town of Grand Valley,
- Town of Shelburne,
- and Town of Orangeville
Results
In total, the Town of Mono collected an incredible 5,846.5 lbs of food (including equivalency for cash donations)! The Township of Melancthon collected 5,632.84 lbs of food (including equivalency for cash donations)! That is a total of 11,479.34 lbs of food.
At the October 8, 2024 Council Meeting, staff also challenged Council to a food bank collection competition.
Staff Results
- Staff donated 514 lbs of food and donated cash calculated at an equivalent of 175 lbs for a total of 689 lbs
Council Results
- Council donated 358 lbs of food and donated cash calculated at an equivalent of 2,687 lbs for a total of 3,045 lbs
Council won the challenge against staff!
Community Donations
Donations received from residents and from attendees at select town events amounted to 2,112.5 lbs of food.
