In order to reinforce the natural gas supply in Dufferin County to accommodate growth in the area, Enbridge Gas is proposing the Dundalk Reinforcement Project in the Town of Mono. The project involves the construction of an 8-inch Extra-High-Pressure (XHP) steel natural gas pipeline, which will parallel, or ‘loop’, existing pipeline infrastructure and will be located within a road right-of-way. The project is considering the following Preliminary Preferred Route and Route Alternatives:
- Preliminary Preferred Route: approximately 4.5 km in length, proposed to commence on Highway 10, approximately 1.5 km north of County Road 10. The proposed route will travel north along Highway 10 to the inlet of a new distribution station that will need to be constructed in the vicinity of the Side Road 20 and Highway 10 intersection.
- Route Alternative 1: approximately 9.1 km in length, proposed to commence in the vicinity of the County Road 10 and Highway 10 intersection. The proposed route will travel west along County Road 10, then north along Blind Line, then east on Side Road 20 to the inlet of a new distribution station.
- Route Alternative 2: approximately 7.3 km in length, proposed to commence on Highway 10, approximately 1.5 km north of County Road 10. The proposed route will travel north along Highway 10, west on Side Road 15, then north on Blind Line, then east on Side Road 20 to the inlet of a new distribution station.
- Route Alternative 3: approximately 7.3 km in length, proposed to commence on Highway 10, approximately 1.5 km north of County Road 10. The proposed route will travel north along Highway 10, east on County Road 8, then north on Hurontario Street, then west on Side Road 20 to the inlet of a new distribution station.
- Route Alternative 4: approximately 9 km in length, proposed to commence in the vicinity of the Side Road 10 and Highway 10 intersection. The proposed route will travel east along Side Road 10, then north along Hurontario Street, then west on Side Road 20 to the inlet of a new distribution station.
The location of the project and proposed routes are shown on the attached figure.
AECOM has been retained by Enbridge Gas to prepare an Environmental Report (ER) to assess the potential environmental and socio-economic effects that may result from the project. The report will outline potential pipeline route evaluations and plans for avoiding and/or mitigating any effects, where possible. The ER will be prepared in accordance with the Ontario Energy Board’s (OEB) Environmental Guidelines for the Location, Construction and Operation of Hydrocarbon Projects and Facilities in Ontario (2023). The ER will accompany a Leave-to-Construct application that will be submitted to the OEB in the Fall of 2023. OEB review and approval is required before this project can proceed. Construction of the project is planned to begin as early as Summer of 2024.
A key part of the planning process involves consultation with Indigenous Communities, local landowners, government agencies and other interested parties that could be impacted by the project. Two virtual public information sessions and an in-person public information session are planned to provide interested parties an opportunity to learn about and comment on the proposed routes. It will also provide an overview of the planning process and studies completed.
The purpose of this message is to invite you to attend the virtual and in-person public information sessions and provide feedback in a format that is convenient for you:
