Basic Function:

This position reports to the Director of Recreation for the Town of Mono.

The part-time caretaker is responsible for the as need cleaning of the rental facilities, namely Monora Pavilion and Mono Community Centre, predominantly in the early mornings on the weekends.  Occasional greeting of renters, familiarizing them with the facilities and reviewing use agreement of facility during let-in procedures may also be required.  Seasonal gardening responsibilities of the Town gardens i.e. raking, planting, pruning, weeding and mulching are also included in this position.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Performs room set-up and take down for functions
  • Cleans rental facilities after functions have ended, inclusive of common areas, washrooms, meeting/reception rooms and kitchens
  • Vacuum, sweep, mop and polish floors
  • Wash and disinfect all washroom floors, toilets, toilet seats, dispensers and fixtures
  • Clean all mirrors
  • Replenish toilet tissue, paper towels and soap as needed
  • Empty all garbage and recycling containers
  • Wash and disinfect all kitchen countertops, floors, stoves, fridges, dishwashers, microwave
  • Inventory dishware as required
  • Clean entrance and exit including glass, doors and hardware
  • Wash all finger marks from walls, doors, hardware and glass
  • Dust/wipe vents, fridges, window sills
  • Wipe down tables, polish chrome on chairs, shampoo chairs upholstery
  • Interact with the public to provide information regarding the facility
  • Let public into rental facilities and review rental requirements
  • Assists with seasonal garden maintenance
  • Daily completion of log books
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Completion of Grade 12 diploma or equivalent experience
  • Current Standard First Aid with CPR C Certification
  • Valid G driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Previous experience working with cleaning equipment considered an asset
  • Good communication skills; reading, writing and oral skills
  • Able to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions
  • Good interpersonal skills with the general public
  • Able to work alone or with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal safety equipment and clothing
  • Able to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and statutory holidays

Rate of Pay:

$21.87 to $25.58 per hour
