On March 29, 2020, the Ontario government announced that social gatherings are limited to a maximum of 5 of people with strict exceptions. The declaration is put into place to further prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the health and well-being of all Ontarians.
The new emergency order applies to organized public events and social gatherings. This includes weddings and communal services within places of worship. This includes events and gatherings even if they are held on private properties.
Exceptions
- The order does not apply to members of a single household
- The order does not apply to essential businesses, such as grocery stores
- Funerals would be permitted to proceed with up to 10 people at one time.
- Childcare centres providing services for frontline health care workers and first responders are limited to a maximum of 50 persons, including children
