Pausing Non-emergency Surgeries and Procedures and Non-urgent Diagnostic Imaging and Ambulatory Clinical Activity
Following the Province’s Directive #2 issued on January 5, Headwaters will be temporarily pausing all non-emergent surgeries and procedures as well all non-urgent diagnostic imaging and ambulatory clinical activity to preserve our bed capacity and health human resources.
Emergent and urgent surgeries, such as cancer care will continue, and our Emergency Department will remain open 24/7 to see patients requiring urgent care. Patients who have upcoming surgeries and appointments that will be postponed will be contacted by their specialist’s office or a member of our Registration team.
Urgent Ambulatory Care Clinics including our Fracture and Plastic clinics, Dialysis, Oncology and Urgent Stress Testing will remain open. Telemedicine, Diabetes, and Infusions will operate at reduced capacity for urgent cases only. All other clinics will be closed.
This direction from the provincial government is in response to the dramatic increase in COVID-19 cases due to the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
It is our priority to ensure we have appropriate staffing levels so that we can continue to provide the best care possible for our community.
Headwaters Emergency Department will remain open 24/7 to see patients requiring urgent care, however it does not provide COVID-19 testing. Symptomatic patients who meet the province’s new testing criteria can make an appointment at our COVID-19 Assessment Centre.
Thank you to the dedicated team of professionals at Headwaters for once again rising to the challenges of this pandemic.
Please make sure you are taking full precautions to protect yourself as we navigate this next wave.
