The Council of the Town of Mono passed municipal-wide development charges By-law No. 2019-42 on the 30th day of July, 2019 under section 2 (1) of the Development Charges Act, 1997, S.O., 1997 c. 27, as amended.
Any person or organization may appeal to the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal under section 14 of the Act, in respect of the development charges by-law, by filing with the Clerk of the Town of Mono on or before the 8th day of September, 2019 a notice of appeal setting out the objection to the by-law and reasons supporting the objection.
The schedule of development charges imposed by the by-law, which came into effect on July 31, 2019, is as follows:

A copy of the complete by-law is available for examination at the Town of Mono Town Hall, 347209 Mono Centre Road, Mono, Ontario L9W 6S3 during regular business hours (weekdays from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm) excluding statutory holidays.
The D.C. (Development Charges) background study was posted on the Town's website on May 31, 2019. The study provides members of the public and interested parties with sufficient background information on the legislation, the study's recommendations, and outline of the basis of these recommendations.
What Are Development Charges?
"The council of a municipality may by by-law impose development charges against land to pay for increased capital costs required because of increased needs for services arising from development of the area to which the by-law applies." - Development Charges Act
A public meeting was held on July 12 at Town Hall. The purpose of the meeting was to give the public an opportunity to ask questions, provide comments, and make representations on the development charges background study and proposed by-law.
