Planning Committee Meeting Rescheduled

The Planning and Environmental Advisory Committee public meeting on the matter of the Greenwood Aggregates proposed Violet Hill Gravel Pit, that was cancelled on January 2nd has been rescheduled to January 16th, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.

Parkland Needs Study RFP

The Town of Mono is seeking proposal submissions for consulting services for a Parkland Needs Study. The Needs Study will provide the Town of Mono with what the community recreation needs are and how these needs might change in the future given current demographics and any expected trends or changes in these demographics. The Study will also produce recommendations and locations on any additional recreation facilities/infrastructure that should be considered for any or each of the Town’s seven municipally owned parks.

Sealed proposals, clearly marked, will be received until Friday, January 19th, 2018 4:00 p.m. EST.

2018 Seedling and Heritage Tree Program

Order form

Each year the Town of Mono offers a heritage tree and seedling program.

Tree Seedling Program

Over a dozen species are typically available. Each seedling is between one and 3 years old. The program offers both tree and shrub species which are suited for general reforestation and wildlife habitat.

Heritage Tree Program

The program offers Heritage Trees in pots to residents of Mono at a reasonable cost for spring planting.

Orders and payment must be received at the Town Office by February 16, 2018.

The Corporation of the Town of Mono received Applications from Greenwood Aggregates Limited for Official Plan Amendment (File OPA 2016-01) and Zoning Bylaw Amendment (File ZBA 2016-02), which were deemed “complete” by Council on August 22, 2017, in relation to the lands abutting the south side of Highway 89 between 3rd and 4th Lines as noted above (“Subject Lands”).

THE PURPOSE AND EFFECT of these applications is to obtain required land use designation(s) and zoning classification(s) that would permit a proposed Class “A” Category 3 Aggregate Extraction Pit Licenced Operation on the above lands.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION, and all other supporting documentation, are available for public viewing during regular office hours at the Municipal Administration office at 347209 Mono Centre Road.

STATUTORY PUBLIC COUNCIL MEETING will be held WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 24th, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at the Town of Mono Council Chambers located at 347209 Mono Centre Road, 4 kms east of Highway #10/24.

Any person or agency may attend this Public meeting and/or make written or verbal submissions either in support of, or in opposition to, the proposed Applications.

If you wish to be notified of the Town Council Decision on these Applications, you must make a written request to the Clerk of the Town of Mono. If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submission to the Town of Mono before the Bylaw is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision of the Town of Mono to the Ontario Municipal Board, and may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Municipal Board unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so.

Hwy 10 Road Construction

The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has commenced construction on Hwy 10 which is expected to continue through to the Fall of 2019. The work consists of grading, drainage, granular base & paving.

There will be lane closures throughout the construction area during most of the work.

Construction operations shall be carried out in such a manner as to maximize safety and minimize disruption to traffic flow and operation. Construction noise levels will be based upon a variety of factors such as time and location of operation, size and concurrent use of equipment and staging of construction. Standard noise mitigation measures pertaining to equipment maintenance and operation have been implemented as part of the contract package. The measures in place shall prevent unnecessary noise and restrict the idling of equipment.
